Course Details
Helping course attendees become familiar with components of a desktop computer and building confidence in using a computer. This course covers basics of what are the components of a desktop computer and a laptop, and functions of different software i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Web Browsers.
- Word – Creating a Document
- Outlook – Working with Emails and Calendar
- Excel – Creating a basic Spreadsheet
- PowerPoint – Creating a presentation
- The Internet – Google & Edge
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course attendees will able to:
- Switch on a computer
- Identify different parts of a desktop computer and laptop
- Send and reply to an email
- Work with email attachments
- Create and format a basic word document
- Create a basic spreadsheet
- Create a presentation
- Search the Internet for specific information

Course Duration: 16 hours
Who Should Apply?
Anyone who is not confident in using a computer, either to send an email, create a basic word document, create a spreadsheet or browse the Internet.
Note: Should an employee/officer book a place on a course but then subsequently fail to attend or complete the course, repayment of cost of the course will be charged to the department/appointment concerned (recoverable from the individual) (Policy CS04 Sect 6.5).
