Course Details

‘Handling Aggression and Potential Violence’ forms part of the essential learning for support roles. This course looks at the crisis situations involving aggression and potential violence from others, considers potential reasons why these happen and how delegates can respond and resolve these. Identifying reasons delegates find these situations difficult and reviewing possible triggers for situations. Delegates will be introduced to the ‘Continuum of aggression’ and the different crisis behaviours expected at each level.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Explain how good communication and de-escalation skills will help
  • Discuss the de-escalation interventions for each level on the continuum.
  • Understand the importance of resolution after a crisis situation

Who Should Apply?

Anyone whose role involves supporting people with substance or behavioural/lifestyle issues.
