First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.
First aid helps to include initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available. Knowing how to help a person is just as important in emergency situations.
First aid helps the reduction of infections to open wounds and is considered to be the first line of defence in treating any injured person.
