
Domestic Abuse Information and Awareness (Module 2)
Course Content:
This course forms Module 2 of the safeguarding programme
This one day course covers information that will help the delegate
• To improve an awareness and understanding of the dynamics and scope of domestic abuse
• To expand understanding of the different types of abuse that may be present in abusive relationships
• To enable early recognition of abuse
• To encourage early and effective multi-agency intervention
• To increase awareness of community services and resources available
• To raise awareness of the complex nature of domestic abuse and the additional dynamics Christian victims and survivors of abuse face
• To highlight the role and responsibility of the church
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, delegates should be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse
• Be familiar with the different forms of abuse that victims may be subjected to and the immediate and long range effects they may have
• Recognise early signs of an abusive relationship
• List ways that individuals and the church can take positive action toward ending domestic abuse and to protect and support a victim throughout
• Give examples of appropriate intervention strategies, including listing the appropriate specialist services and resources available
• Understand The Salvation Army reporting procedures following a disclosure
