Course Content
Following on from the knowledge and understanding learned in Introduction to Motivational Interviewing, Building Motivational Interviewing Skills is designed to give delegates an opportunity to put those skills to use in a practical and practice-oriented workshop.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Use OARS effectively to support clients in identifying their own hopes, goals, aspirations and thoughts about the benefits of change
- Use MI spirit and tools to support clients to build self-efficacy
- Effectively use MI tools and techniques, including Decisional Balance worksheet to facilitate change conversations

Who Should Apply
Anyone whose role involves supporting people with substance or behavioural / lifestyle issues.
Successful prior completion of Introduction to Motivational Interviewing is a requirement for this course.
